Windsurfing: Shoreham Wind Direction: SW Wind Stength: Surf / Sea State: Lumpy H-tide crap Air Temperature: Sea Temperature: Weather: Sunny then cloudy Max Speed: Distance Covered:
Forecasts were suggesting a possible short 5.9 sea-breeze enhanced session
today, but nothing special, wasn't in much of a rush to get up in the
morning. So was very surprised when I did roll out of bed around 11am to
see blazing sunshine and mucho white caps out to sea!
Pegged it down to Shoreham, and had a half decent long session, nicely
powered on the 5.2 for most of it. But it wasn't that great, mainly cos the
tide was high, and the water state was a lumpy crappy mess. Random bumps
everywhere, which combined with being a fraction on the under-side of
powered, meant I found it very hard to get good speed a lot of the time,
and couldn't really go for it in the gybes.
After about an hour of lump bumping, thought about giving up and came in,
also cos I was worried about possible shorebreak. But bumped into Billyboy
and his enthusiasm persuaded me to go out again. Shorebreak was
surprisingly tame, despite it being top of the tide now. The sailing wasn't
much better though and the wind dropped off towards the end and it clouded
over.
Not bad but not great. Session gets good marks for being unexpectantly
windy (3rd windy w/e in a row all good!). But would have been much better
had the tide been lower.
Oh yeah first session of the year in the summer suit, not cold at all, nice
one.
